VIDEO: Gerard Way Talks Next Album
Oct 16, 2012
REVIEW [excerpt]: **WARNING - NEGATIVE CONTENT*** Album Title Goes Here — DeadMau5
"...Zimmerman dusts off My Chemical Romance front man Gerard Way for the
faux indie-rocker “Professional Griefers,” which features an
over-compressed indie rock riff that is reminiscent of a neutered Franz
Ferdinand track. It’s been a while since the heyday of My Chemical
Romance, and Way puts in a valiant effort on this track. “Just give me a
life to bleed/Another world outside that’s full of/All the awful things
that I made,” he sings with the same earnestness he displayed while his
band was still popular.
Unfortunately for Zimmerman, the combination of these lyrics and Way’s cameo makes “Professional Griefers” wholly entertaining to anyone who hates My Chemical Romance. Perhaps the song is actually a latent manifestation of Zimmerman’s fears of irrelevancy."
"...Eventually, Deadmau5’ Album Title Goes Here starts to feel like a painfully oblivious victory lap. But hey, if you’re on top of the world why change a thing? Unfortunately, it seems that this mentality didn’t work out too well for Gerard Way."

NEWS: Gerard Way, Shaun Simon and Becky Cloonan reveal Killjoys details at New York Comic Con
Though we were once told that Killjoys began as a project
stemming from authors Shaun Simon and Gerard Way "growing up being in
the van," much has changed since its inception.
A far cry from the '90s-inspired, American comic-book feel they had originally intended, the Killjoys of now, according to Gerard Way, Shaun Simon and Becky Cloonan in an interview with Newsarama that was streamed live, is more inspired by the Killjoys world MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE created with their videos for Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys.
According to Way, it is "basically the 3rd" Killjoys video they would have made had they not run out of money, and it's an "expansion on the record."
When Way received a sketch from Cloonan of "The Girl" in the Danger Days videos, grown up (well, somewhat, she was 16), he told Simon, "I think this is the comic."
Cloonan noted that she saw how many people had put their hearts into the Killjoys world as MCR created, and that she creates the world with that in mind!
Get a first glimpse at Killjoys for free on "Free Comic Book Day," 2013 (May 4) and, according to Shaun Simon "issue one [will be] out in June!"

ARTICLE: Way, Simon and Cloonan’s Killjoys comic ‘finally happening’
My Chemical Romance’s The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys album may have come and gone, but the Killjoys comic first announced in 2009 has yet to see the light of day. According to a post from Killjoys artist Becky Cloonan, it looks like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for the long-delayed project.
“So this is finally happening!” she posted on her tumblr site. “If you’ll be at NYCC, come to Dark Horse’s Killjoy panel, Saturday at 5PM. I’ll be there along with writers Gerard Way and Shaun Simon! Beyond psyched.”
According to Dark Horse’s signing schedule, they’ll hold a ticketed event with the three creators at the Dark Horse booth. Cloonan said at CCI this past July that the book was back on track, and it looks like we might be getting official word about it in New York.
Back when it was first announced, Way said the series would be more mature than his work on Umbrella Academy.
“If ‘Umbrella Academy’ is me taking a look at, among many other things, ‘Doom Patrol,’ ‘Killjoys’ is me, with my co-writer Shaun Simon, taking a look at when the best stuff was going on in the ’90s, things like ‘Invisibles’ and stuff like that,” he told CBR. “It’s a mature readers title, which is another first. We specifically wanted ‘Umbrella Academy’ to be an all ages title. This thing is going to deal with much more mature and controversial themes, such as hate crimes and homophobia, the homogenization of American culture and American life. ‘Umbrella Academy’ is set in its own world, with its own rules; ‘Killjoys’ is set in modern America. I find that sometimes you can say a lot when you’re dealing in our times, with what people can relate with right now. It starts off at the end of the ’90s and picks up today. I would say it’s more violent, heavily, and deals with much stronger themes.”

ARTICLE: Frank Iero - The Interview
My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero is not only one of our signature
artists but he's also one of our favorite interviewees. Frank loves to
talk about guitars and music and his enthusiasm for his craft is always
abundantly clear. The Epiphone Frank Iero Phant-o-matic was released
last year to great reviews. Frank and his mates from MCR have been hard
at work in their studio in Los Angeles on a new album for 2013.
My Chemical Romance also recently announced that starting in October, the band plans to release 2 unheardsongs
every month through March, 2013. The tracks were recorded just prior
to the release of their last album Danger Days: The True Lives of the
Fabulous Killjoys, and are known among hardcore MCR fans as the
Conventional Weapons sessions. "We hope you enjoy these time capsules,
and that they may shed a little more light on how and where Danger Days
came from, and maybe even where the future of MCR might be heading. It
was the best of times, it was the worst of times...and now it is finally
time to lift the veil on Conventional Weapons," Frank announced on the
official website. Epiphone caught up with Frank to get the full scoop on
what he's been up to.
My Chemical Romance also recently announced that starting in October, the band plans to release 2 unheard
