ARTICLE: My Chemical Romance

Just in time for Halloween, a black parade might be swarming over City Park. As announced this morning, emo-pop group My Chemical Romance will be playing the 2011 Voodoo Festival. They are joining fellow heavy hitters (but from another decade) Soundgarden for the line-up. Local and loyal act The Soul Rebels Brass Band, as well as Portugal, The Man will also round out the three day event.
With their fourth studio album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (which sounds like either a cold case show or a wrestling tag team) released back in November, and an ever-expanding sound that incorporates progressive and glam rock to their passionate hardcore punk sound, they should add an interesting flair to New Orleans this fall. Named after an Irvine welsh novel, they shot to superstardom with their second album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (which the author has and thinks is a fantastic album), and have never looked back. Let's see what their live act has in store.

The Voodoo Musix Experience runs in October from the 28th to the 30th. Tickets are still available and attendees are encouraged to buy them early while they're still cheap. A three day pass costs $150 (not counting tax). VIPs run from $400 to $500. Though there are no chants or chicken bone relics to be found on site (at least, not from the sober crowds), the festival encompasses not only music, but interactive business experiences, tents for social causes, and good food.
