ARTICLE: My Chemical Romance boycotts Arizona Honda Tour Date

The Honda Civic Tour is playing Tempe . . . kind of.
Blink-182 will be there, as will Matt and Kim.
But My Chemical Romance, one of two headlining artists on the tour, will stand by their SB 1070 boycott and sit out the Tempe Beach Park date on Friday, Sept. 30.
The Jersey rockers, whose latest album, "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys," hit the charts last year at No. 8, are members of the Sound Strike, a coalition of artists launched last year to boycott Arizona.
They'd already canceled a May 24 date at the Marquee Theatre that had been booked without their knowledge, much like recent cancellations by Maroon 5 and Steve Earle.
My Chemical Romance may "make up the date," though, according to Sound Strike organizer Javier Gonzalez, who says they're looking into ways to stand by the commercial boycott and still play an Arizona date.
"We've had informal conversations," he says, "about what would be a good format for that. And hopefully, It'll get worked out."
